Black music artists 1970s. The october 18 issue of billboard hailed black music's historic week: In celebration of black music month, we compiled a list of groundbreaking black female jazz and blues artists who paved the way for today's biggest music acts. This is the spirit in which we observe black music month today. To celebrate black history month, i thought it would be appropriate to make a list of the greatest black music artists in history.

That was when the top 10 songs on the billboard hot 100 were all by black artists for the first time in the chart's history. Much of today's genres of music is heavily influenced by.
